John Wesley Honors College

Introducing the 2015-2016 HCSA Cabinet

The Honors College Student Association is the Student Organization for the John Wesley Honors College. As a member of the Honors College, you automatically belong! Additionally, we invite freshmen to serve on the HCSA Senate. They hold bi-weekly meetings and organize events for the JWHC and the IWU community at large. If this sounds interesting to you, keep an eye out for an announcement about Freshmen Senator elections. For now, get to know the 2015-2016 Cabinet!

Weaver, Mary-Madison2President

Mary-Madison Weaver, Class of 2016

Hometown: Tyler, Texas

Favorite part of the HCSA: People working together to build community within the HC!

Favorite JWHC Class so far: I tried to narrow it down…I can’t. Each class is so unique and taught me different things!

If you had to pick, would own a duck-sized horse or horse-sized duck? Horse-sized duck!

Any other fun facts you’d like to share? I am the oldest of five girls in my family! (No boys, in case you were wondering.)

Chaplain

Chloe McLaughlin, Class of 2016McLaughlin, Chloe (2)

Hometown: Frankfort, Indiana

Favorite part of the HCSA: My favorite part of HCSA and the JWHC in general is the wonderful friendships I have gained and the exciting events we get to be a part of.

Favorite JWHC Class so far: HNR-380: Wisdom, Culture, and Justice II (AKA More Wisdom, More Culture, More Justice) with Dr. Hawkins

If you had to pick, would own a duck-sized horse or horse-sized duck? Duck-sized horse. Hands Down. Horse Sized Duck? TERRIFYING.

Any other fun facts you’d like to share? I am super strange. I fear birds and sidewalk chalk. I love a good cup of coffee and an intellectual conversation and laundromats are one of my favorite places in the world (Yes, there is a story there, feel free to ask me about it!).

Flynn, Lydia2Vice President

Lydia Flynn, Class of 2016

Hometown: Geneseo, IL or Rauenberg, Germany

Favorite part of the HCSA: The fancy dinners and Jeopardy night!

Favorite JWHC Class so far: Dr. Hawkins’ Wisdom, Culture, and Justice Throughout the Ages II (a.k.a. “more wisdom, more culture, more justice”).

If you had to pick, would you own a duck-sized horse or horse-sized duck? A duck-sized horse–it sounds less terrifying and easier to manage!

Any other fun facts you’d like to share? I’m a nerd, and my favorite mineral is labradorite.

Kuehn, Larisa (new)

Larisa Kühn, Class of 2018

Favorite JWHC Class so far: Rhetoric and the Sacramental Imagination with Dr. Bressler

If you had to pick, would you own a duck-sized horse or horse-sized duck? Definitely a duck-sized horse.

Any other fun facts you’d like to share? I used to own a horse, Sweet Pea, but she was normal sized.
